The cobblestoned streets and colonial architecture in the Colonial Zone offer visitors insight into the country’s rich history, while its lively nightlife provides a fun escape from everyday life.
Concerns about safety in Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic as a whole are common. Although there have been reports of occasional petty crime incidents, most visitors remain safe when travelling around the country as long as they take sensible precautions.
