This Nepal travel guide will provide you with all the resources to plan a fun and successful trip!
Situated between China and India, Nepal is a colorful country. It is filled with lush nature, deeply spiritual cultural sights, and adrenaline-filled adventures. Plus, the majestic Himalayas serve as a backdrop and provide ample trekking opportunities!
Kathmandu, the capital, is the busy capital city where most travelers will fly into. Spend a few days seeing the sights in Kathmandu before heading onward to other notable areas.
In Chitwan National Park, travelers can see the endangered one-horned rhino. Pokhara is the place for adventure activities. And don’t skip the small villages along the Trishuli River, where some of the best white water rafting can be found.
If you are planning to travel to Nepal, this guide will lay out all the basics so that you can explore with ease! Let’s dive in.
When is the Best Time to Visit Nepal?
Because Nepal is spread across multiple climates and elevations, the best time to visit Nepal depends on what you plan to do here.
Fall and spring are the most popular times for trekkers and climbers. Clear skies and pleasant weather creates the ideal conditions for mountain adventures.
For those on a shoestring budget, consider traveling during the monsoon low season. You will likely find discounts on accommodation and tours, and you won’t have large crowds while sightseeing. But be flexible as monsoons can be common.
For the best weather, plan your visit between October and April. Temperatures are pleasant and warm, and most days will be sunny. Winter mornings can bring a chill, but daytime weather is pleasant.
For those who want to explore national parks and wildlife, spring is a good time to visit. March brings in colorful blooms and April and May are great for spotting wildlife.

Transportation in Nepal
Below is a summary of transportation options in and to Nepal.
Getting There: International visitors will most likely arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) near Kathmandu.
Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal, and Pokhara Airport is another domestic airport option.
Getting Around: Generally, most tourists opt to book a tour rather than renting a car to explore Nepal. I highly recommend this 10 day adventure tour for anyone who wants to see Nepal’s nature, culture, and adventures! It is the exact itinerary I followed (though I added extra adventure sports in.)
Alternately, tourists can easily travel the country by bus. Note that the buses, even the tourist buses, are not high-class or luxury.
Taxis and tuk-tuks are easily available in Kathmandu
